The Fitted Index

A 59Fifty is a fitted cap New Era has made since 1954: six panels, a flat visor, a green or grey underbrim depending on the year, and a size stitched into the sweatband rather than a strap at the back. Collectors keep them for the same reasons people keep records: the colorway, the run, the retailer who commissioned it, and the year it came out all tell you something the hat itself does not say out loud.

This index is one entry per release the Journal thinks is worth remembering. Each row carries the same facts in the same order so the table can be read as a collection: silhouette, subject, colorway, who sold it, when, at what price, in what quantity where that is known, and where it trades now. The note at the end of each row is ours.
