EARLY SPRING 2018 SNEAKERS
Just because it is still cold in many places does not mean our minds are not already heading for the relief of Spring. Here are TK early spring sneakers that could be worn today, in winter-like temperatures that have us excited for allergy season and warmer weather.
[1] FILLING PIECES LAY UP ICEY 2 FLOW WHITE
Filling Pieces have their loyalists. Each sneaker, according to the company, is crafted from the most supple leather giving a “comfortable fit fresh out of the box.” At times these sneakers seem like more shoes that look like sneakers than sneakers that feel like sneakers. With that said they certainly “blur the lines between luxury and sports footwear.” They will set you back a pretty penny, but they will add a new pep to your step. They also come in Beige, white/red, white/grey, black/white, white/black, flow maroon, flow black, icey black and, icey gray. Check them out at Filling Pieces.
[2] Nike Air Vapormax Flyknit Utility Black / Orange
The Nike Air Vapormx Flyknit Utility Black/Orange offer a distinct look with it’s 3/4 high stock cuff, bungee cord as laces and a clear full-length air sole unit that contracts a speckled midsole. They look weird. They look very weird. But keep , and they will grow on you, even if you aren’t entirely into the Vapormax silhouette. You can find these now at Nike and Haven.
[3] Yeezy Powerphase Calabasas In Black
We are a big fan of this silhouette. The gray version made it into our list of “Best Sneaker Releases of 2017.” Like the gray ones these are a perfect all year round, and easy sneaker. Pair these with a suit or a some mesh shorts and high socks and forget that association these have to Kanye or the Kardashians. Look for these to drop March 17th at adidas.com.
[4] Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 97/1
Re-releasing or releasing, however you want to call it, on March 26, 2018 as part of Air Max Day, which is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary of the Air Max 1. According to Nike, Wotherspoon turned to his closest friends and family to create a shoe that reflects his ‘by this community, for the community’ focus. I am not entirely sure what that means, but I do support communities and I have always digged these kicks. I’d say find them here at nike.com, but my guess is they will sell out in seconds. So also check out Flight Club, Stadium Goods, Grailed and ebay the days these release.
[5] adidas’ Stitch and Turn Black / White
These all-suede gazelles stand alone. They bring some of the best qualities of winter – suede and pairs them with one of the best qualities of summer – all-purpose sports trainer and created something that according to adidas “transcends style, age, gender and time.” We’re in. You can find these for $100 (and worth every penny) at adidas.com or at other retailers like Haven.
[6] Nike Air Max 98 “Gundam”
There was a meme floating around by Laro Vilas Boas that featured these. It is a Skelton holding a pair of these Nike Air Max 98 “Gundam” saying: “I don’t know if i really love you, or if the hype tricked me to love you.” That is how we feel about these. Do we like them or is it just the hype telling us we do and that we need them? These released in January but Nike keeps restocking so keep checking nike.com or find them on Flight Club.
[7] Nike Air Jordan 3 ‘Tinker’
Who would have thought adding the Nike Swoosh could make the look more minimal and classier? Makes you wonder why they didn’t release back in the day? Was the swoosh not cool then? Did people prefer not waring logos? The Jordan 3 has maintained its position as one of the best Jordan silhouettes, and by purchasing these, you will have a streetwear classic you can wear the rest of your life. Think about it; you will want to impress your grandkids! Look for these to drop March 24th and retail for $200 at nike.com.
[8] New Balance 300 Vintage
They are a pair your dad or grandpa wore playing tennis in their super short-shorts. Dad shoes are in even if they aren’t ugly and chunky. According to New Balance putting these on will make you look like “your winning” and will “score style points.” They are retro. They are cool. And for $74.99 they can be your go-to sneaker this spring and summer. Check them out at New Balance.
[9] ASICS GEL-Lyte III – Red/White/Blue
If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, tends to be the motto of Japanese running brand, ASICS. Like ASICS GEL-Lyte IV, the GEL-Lyte III’s are pretty close to perfect already, so we are glad ASISCS is updating this comfortable silhouette with modern materials. Expect to see more of this orange/red and blue combo a lot for the next year. The ASCIS Gel-Lyte III retail for $110 and can be found at many ASICS retailers including QualityIndy.
[10] Brandblack Aura – White
The chunky, ugly, dad shoe trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. So this spring we suggest transitioning them to lighter colors, like the Blandblack Aura in White. They will set you back $200 but that is a lot more affordable than the Balenciaga’s, Dior’s, and Louis Vuitton’s. Find them at Brandblack.
[11] Nike Air Max Plus Green/Rose
It’s Nike Air Max day, month, and year, so only right to include another Air Max to this list. It’s the color we like most here. With Easter just around the corner, and pastels making their way back to the streets, these fit right into your early spring to spring wardrobe. The colors are the showstopper with these. Don’t buy them if you are someone who doesn’t want to be complemented by random people on the street.Find them at Nike for $175.
[12] COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Max 180
To say these are vibrant would be a huge understatement. These are the kicks for those who want to be noticed. Isn’t that what spring and summer are all about though? Getting noticed? These are hard to find at retailers in the states (until make Air Max Day?) but can be found online.
