BELONGS TO US AND ONLY US
We get excited about a lot around here and, with so much going on, how could you blame us? But for Highlark to finally get the chance to cover Dilly Dally, considering we have a couple of big fans on staff, (myself included) it was a little extra special.
TUESDAY 05/03/16 – NEW YORK, NEW YORK
My first take on the atmosphere was that it was ‘scene’ but it wasn’t, at least not stereotypically. The only scene for those 35 precious minutes where Dilly Dally owned the stage was the one where this youthy, gritty, talented band of cool kids was the only scene in town. Originally from Toronto, Canada (or the 6ix if you asked them), Dilly Dally made sure to represent while proclaiming that the city “belongs to us and only us,” before launching into a grunge-infused rendition of fellow 6’er Drake’s “Know Yourself.”
The moment played like an early interlude, and after a laugh brought on by a fan’s shout of “Dilly Dally on a Tuesday night,” the band picked us up one more time just before leaving for the night. No disappointment, just left wanting more. Is that ever really a bad thing? One could argue, if you don’t leave wanting more, that’s the real disappointment. And I’d tend to agree.
