GRAMMY AWARD WINNING DJ, TOURIST, PLAYS A SOLD OUT SHOW AT AVANT GARDNER

DJ TOURIST LIVE AT AVANT GARDNER IN BROOKLYN

Tourist played a sold out show at King’s Hall at Avant Gardner on Saturday and I am blown away by his performance. William Phillips known by his stage name Tourist, is a British electronic musician and songwriter. He won a Grammy award in 2015 for Song of the Year for co-writing “Stay with Me”. His debut album was released in 2016 and he recently released his sophomore album titled Everyday. I highly recommend giving the new album a listen – it gives me Tycho vibes, very futuristic chill and 100% different than his last album. I promise you, I have listened to this album twice a day since it has been released. Big artists like Diplo have been posting the album on social media, so you know it’s good.

DJ TouristKing’s Hall is a smaller venue space within the massive complex. There’s a huge disco ball in the center of the room and lights coming from the stage. Tourist’s setup was very minimal, which I like. No visuals, no crazy lasers, just minimal, simple lighting and his equipment. He opened with new music from his album and the crowd was in awe from the chill-electronic tracks. Even though we were at King’s Hall, the vibe and energy felt like I was in an underground rave in the UK, very Skins. It took me back to a 90s rave – hot, crowded, intimate space, and everyone simply enjoying the music. He played older hits as well including “Run” and my favorite “I Can’t Keep Up”, and I honestly have never seen King’s Hall s turnt up before.DJ Tourist

It’s been three years since I’ve seen Tourist (I discovered him at Coachella 2016) and I am blown out of the water with his performance. I can’t wait for future music from him – check out the below playlist exhibiting a mixture of older music and hits from his new album.
