CHANGING THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT FASHION
“Ethical” and “stylish” can oftentimes be conflicting concepts in fashion. Native Philadelphian and University of Pennsylvania grad Nina Farran recognized this issue, and beginning in 2014, sought to fix it. Focused on “high impact and high style,” FASHIONKIND (a shortening of Fashion For Humankind) curates an online marketplace for the best in sustainable and ethically-made fashion. From brands like Ryan Roche, whose eponymous designer was honored by the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2015, to model Liya Kebede’s own line, LemLem, FASHIONKIND’s collections may vary but certainly come together to form harmonious looks each season focused on elegant and understated luxury. What’s more, the brand serves as a resource, providing education on sustainable clothing practices and the talented craftspeople behind each piece.
