Jazz Virtuoso shares latest single from Forthcoming Album It Is What It Is Out 04/03/20
Thundercat has just shared his latest single “Dragonball Durag,” a song that perfectly encapsulates the artists’ love for humor in music and for a particular Japanese anime, Dragonball Z. This track marks the second single out from Thundercat’s upcoming album It Is What It Is, out on April 03, 2020 via Brainfeeder Records.
Regarding his latest disco infused single, the bassist shares a few thoughts via press release : “I have a Dragon Ball tattoo… it runs everything. There is a saying that Dragon Ball is life,” Bruner explains. As for the durag: “There are two types of people in the world, the guy with the durag and the guy who doesn’t know what a durag is. The durag is a superpower, to turn your swag on… it does something, it changes you. If you have one in the wardrobe, think about wearing it tonight, and it may pop off because you never know what’s going to happen.”
The disco ode to a beloved cult anime follows last month’s single “Black Quails,” which featured a power house Steve duo; Steve Lacy (The Internet) and Steve Arrington (Slave). The forthcoming album, produced by Flying Lotus and Thundercat, will also feature musical contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, BADBADNOTGOOD, Louis Cole, and Zack Fox.
