UNDERSTAND
This was a story that I was extremely interested in covering, and the day came when I got to sit down and hear Bear Hands‘ drummer TJ Orscher tell me what it was like growing up with his hearing-impaired father. A lot of us including myself take certain things for granted and no matter what the situation, communicating and understanding each other is extremely important in any relationship. He talks about the frustrations he faced and how he was sometimes hard on his father which of course now he feels like he shouldn’t have been. My favorite part of this story is how he was able to give his father an experience that was as close as he can get to “hearing” his band’s music.
Understanding is key in communicating with anyone, trying to at least understand their position.
