I am well aware that you guys don’t need me to tell you who Diplo is, or at least I hope I don’t because he is a giant in the music business. He is also a founding and key member of reggae-centric electronic music group Major Lazer, but you knew that already. Producer, DJ or whatever you want to call him, he produces and creates dope beats and tracks. He is one of my favorite, if not my favorite producer out there right now. I think what I like about him the most is his musical range in terms of style and his ability to make “cool” modern beats which make you nod your head and start dancing. Many people consider him mainstream but I’m not sure I totally agree with that. He has certainly produced many mainstream hits and club bangers but has tons of outside the box weird tracks as well.
A great example of that is the collaboration album with Skrillex which came out earlier this year titled Skrillex and Diplo present Jack Ü. Major Lazer also released their album Peace Is The Mission just last week. “Too Original” was a Muse-ick! few weeks ago from that record. This is actually why I decided to feature Diplo, because those two albums have been on heavy rotation on my iPod and I wanted to select so many songs for Muse-Ick!. Instead I have below the full album sampler for both albums released from Diplo’s label Mad Decent. Reggae, dancehall, hiphop, electro, dubstep, pop or whatever genre it falls under Diplo can do it all!
