Mary’s work is inspired by her knowledge of the shipping industry and the way it influences the surrounding culture and environment. Her work usually contains a beautiful landscape as its base, sometimes using a found photograph if not painted from scratch. She then positions colorful three-dimensional shapes within the frame which are most often shipping-container-esque boxes. My favorite part of her paintings though are the precise thin lines reminiscent of cordage that follow the lines of her geometric shapes creating a grid-like web.
Mary’s art has been featured in Juxtapoz, Hi-Fructose and in public murals all around Seattle and elsewhere. Make sure you check out her website to see all of her beautiful work in all of its forms, and keep an eye out for her exhibitions which may be taking place near you.
