SUMMERTIME IN THE LBC 8/5/17 AT QUEEN MARY PARK LONG BEACH
As we near the closing of quite the hottest summer in Southern California, this Saturday thanks to a festival line-up featuring hip-hop legends to the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Warren G and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony may prove to be the hottest day we’ve had all year. The Observatory produced ‘Summertime in the LBC’ makes its festival debut this weekend, August 5 at the Queen Mary located in Long Beach, California.
As a modern millennial with an old music soul, the Observatory has answered my prayers with this multi-generational lineup that is surely to attract a funky, hip hop crowd that spawns across the years (and yes, it is all ages!) This day-long festival is sure to provide a feel good day for those who were raised on the funky infused hip hop of George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic to those more familiar with the modern rap sounds of 50 Cent & G-Unit. The line-up also includes artists like KRS-One, Slick Rick, Brenton Wood, Hieroglyphics and Lil Rob;all who in their own right have established their mark in their genres as icons.
This festival is also reaching beyond the music to bring additional heat by stacking its food listings to some very exclusive caterers. The inclusion of Trap Kitchen alone proves that there may no longer be “so much drama in the LBC” as the social media venture’s founders used to belong to two rival gangs in the area, but are now working together to bring culinary comfort food directly to your home. Their cult following will assure that the hot ticket to the festival may be worth it alone for access to their kitchens listings. Other vendors present will also include All Flavor No Grease, Taco Mell, A Little Taste of Chyna and Three Stakxs Kitchen.
The Observatory has been churning out festivals this year that can only be topped by quite frankly, their own selves. From Soulquarius to When We Were Young; they are continuously raising the bar on festivals by a winning combination of working with top influencers in the music industry and really listening to the tastes and suggestions of their audiences. This star studded Hip Hop throwback festival proves no different. They are here to create a one of a kind, tailored music experience and we are more than thrilled to see what this weekend has in store.
