TOM FRUIN

SONIC CO-FOUNDER / EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

You may have noticed a cool little stained glass house in some of my pictures of Phone Home, and it happens to be an art installment done by artist Tom Fruin. He has several installments of this stained glass series including the Watertower in Dumbo and this piece in Brooklyn Bridge Park titled Kolonihavehus. Yes, the Watertower3 near pier 5 is also his. Tom uses salvaged/found materials for all his work including the stained glass. He even has a piece made with found plastic “drug” baggies.

Tom is also really cool! I messed around with a photo I took of the Kolonihavehus for potential album artwork for Phone Home and so I reached out to him to get permission to use it. He got back to me very quickly and was totally cool about it too. Anyway, it doesn’t look like we’re using that image but thanks Tom! Make sure you guys check out his site for all his amazing installments!
