SOULQUARIUS LINEUP 2017: THE THROWBACK AFFAIR
On February 18, Hip-Hop and R&B fan’s wildest dreams will turn into reality when Soulquarius launches its inaugural festival at The Observatory in Orange County.
The events roster enlisted legendary acts representing the relevance of 90’s staples to the hype of modern day experimentalists. With a line up that includes nearly every generation and sub genre of R&B, the throwback affair that is headlined by R. Kelly (despite some controversy) and Erykah Badu is promising to be more than a momentous nostalgic escape. Other acts on the bill include solo divas Brandy, Monica, Mya, Amerie and Kelis; new age marvels like Jhene Aiko, The Internet, Ari Lennox and Willow Smith; soulful Hip Hop artists like BJ The Chicago Kid, Lloyd, Baby Bash, The-Dream and Ro James; and some prime throwbacks like DMX, The Pharcyde, Ja Rule & Ashanti, Too Short, Nina Sky and Pretty Ricky.
R&B has largely gone uncelebrated as the mainframe for an entire festival, but thanks to the involvement of the events promoters, music insiders and avid live music fans, Soulquarius is now here to fill the void in the festival scene with nothing short of the genres very best.
While there are no cemented plans beyond the inaugural year, the Observatory grounds are no stranger to being home to events that easily become Southern Californian traditions. Details are being well kept under wrap, but we can expect a classic festival set up with the use of the main indoor Observatory venue, the smaller Constellation Room and additional outdoor stages.
The throwback affair undeniably sold out of its general admission tickets quickly, but you may still be able to snag a few of the VIP tickets left through their site as you do not want to miss out on this. Showcasing the very best talent of past and present R&B, you can rest assure that the future will be as carefully curated as the introduction of Soulquarius.
