A Surreal Festival Designed to be Lived, Not Attended
Desert Daze Music Festival returns this year on October 12-October 14, 2018 at Lake Perris, CA. The new location at Moreno Beach hints at an event with enticing familiarity, doused in a new adventures for first timers and returners alike. With many secretive elements being incorporated; attendees can expect the return of many features they have come to love; while still breathing in the excitement of next level surprises that will roll out throughout the weekend. A unique event unlike any other, Desert Daze is not a music festival you attend; it’s one where your human spirit has the opportunity to transcend.
Continuing its tradition of bringing together one of the most eclectic and diverse lineups (& a contender for one of the best of 2018); this year the fest continues their legacy of bringing together the best in experimental and fusion genres from all over the world for a weekend in the desert in Southern California. Friday’s lineup includes: Tame Impala, Warpaint, Connan Mockasin, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, and Jarvis Cocker introducing JARV IS…. While Saturday is bringing along: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard,Slowdive, Mercury Rev performing Deserter’s Songs , Chelsea Wolfe, and Wooden Shjips. Closing out the weekend, Sundays list includes: My Bloody Valentine, Death Grips, Shellac, Ty Segall & White Fence, and Earth performing The Bees Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull.
Recently added throughout the lineup with the festival’s recent drop of its much anticipated tier 4 completes the weekends music bill by including acts like the magnificent and quintessential shoegaze/dream pop group Slowdive and modern West Coast psych rock/drone forerunners Wooden Shjips. Other new additions to the main programming include: Idles , Cosmonauts , L.A. Witch , Death Valley Girls , VinylWilliams , Goon , Stonefield, Sugar Candy Mountain and The Mad Walls. After the regular festival schedule ends for the day, the lighting changes, the mood shifts and things get experimental with the inclusion of late night collaborative sets by Kikagaku Moyo with Boogarins and JJUUJJUU (and more to be revealed), plus full sets from Deap Vally, Lumerians, Prettiest Eyes. Even better news, late night programming will be available to all Desert Daze visitors.
If the lineup alone is not enough enticement; Desert Daze has released its programming for Outer Space; which offers attendees a range of extracurricular throughout its 3 days. The Theatre will be hosting talks and film screenings, while The Valley of the Unbroken Horizon will house Art Installations and projections. The Mystic Bazaar will be accessible to campers and filled with ongoing ceremonies, meditations, sound baths and yoga. The Sanctuary will serve as a refuse for those seeking even a few moments of calming tranquility before heading off into the days next adventure.
