Rebel 8 is a brand that definitely calls back to the late 90’s and early 2000’s aesthetics. The company was founded in 2003 by Joshy D. in San Francisco, who incorporated skater, graffiti and tattoo art elements to his early t-shirt designs. Now the brand produces not only t-shirts but also sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets and more for both men and women.

Men’s wear has all the visual elements mentioned before but I do like their nod to California biker style as well as punk DIY influences with detailed graphics and lettering on their tops, tees and sweaters. They stay true to the West side with some Vato inspired prints on their accessories that includes bandanas, keychains, bags, wallets and more. The graphics all tell the story of where the founder and the artists developed the inspirations to their designs. It also should be noted that they included checkered button down shirts in their collection because you can not be a true California punk/skater/tattoo artist without a shirt  you can fasten all the way at the top!

Women’s wear has a similar feel with graphic tops that include baseball tees, tank tops and sweatshirts with the same tattoo art styles. They complement the bottoms which include printed joggers and leggings as well as dark and inky skinny jeans.

The brand is definitely loyal to art as they not only feature clothes and accessories but also stickers, prints and even multi-colored Sharpies for all the tattoo aficionados out there. Their attention to their artistic detail definitely make Rebel 8 a force to be reckoned with.
