I never miss an opportunity to catch The Regrettes live when they are in town (although I think I did miss one), but I was truly looking forward to their show last night at Irving Plaza in New York City.
From my first phone interview with lead singer and guitarist Lydia Night back in August of 2016, I have been following this band’s journey. I first saw them live at The Studio at Webster Hall a little over a year ago where they impressed me with their mature performance and killer vocal harmonies.
I really got to know them on a much personal level when I followed them around at last year’s SXSW to document their day. I saw first hand the hard work and passion Lydia, Genessa, Sage and Maxx put in day in and day out.
Although The Regrettes will put on a great show no matter where they are or how many people they are playing to, I was happy to see them in their element in front of a 1000 plus people gathered at the sold out Irving Plaza.
My favorite thing about their shows is the genuine smile on their faces while they play. It represents the best things in life, doing what you love with the people that you love and making others happy in the process.
